President names Usman, Nwezeh as DG of NCAA

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday named Captain Muktar Usman as the Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). He also appointed Justice Chima Nweze as a justice of the Supreme
Court and Dr. Jonah Madugu as a member of Federal Civil Service Commission. The nominations were contained in separate statements to Senate President, David Mark, and read on the floor of the senate yesterday.

The president, who said Nweze would represent the South-east geo-political zone at the apex court, also said the appointment followed the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC)as required by the constitution.
Usman, who has been in acting capacity since January, will replace Capt. Fola Akinkuotu, who was sacked by the president in federal government's quest to salvage the aviation sector.
The president also sent the name of Dr. Jonah Madugu to the Senate for confirmation as a commissioner at the Federal Civil Service Commission.
According to the letter, Madugu will represent Nasarawa, Plateau and Benue States at the commission.
The president urged the senators to promptly confirm the appointments.
Jonathan also forwarded Nigeria Law Enforcement Agency Amendment Bill, 2014 to the Senate for enactment into law.
